I absolutely love working with Greig on projects. He’s so responsive when I call him about sudden unforeseen jobs, like when, in the middle of the COVID pandemic, my house painters discovered rot in the balcony floor off the second-floor bedroom. I called Greig and said the scaffolding was still up, but was scheduled to come down in a week, and the painters were here, and it would be great if the floor could be repaired before they left, so they could do the painting. I was concerned about supply chain problems (the copper sheathing and lumber), but he showed up promptly, carpenter in tow, and they got it done that week. Then, when my deck needed repair but ultimately was discovered to need replacement, Greig’s people did near-cabinet-level work rebuilding the deck. You can’t see a single connector (screw or nail); the ends of the handrails are curved so they won’t split over time. I watched his carpenter assemble the handrail and posts in the driveway for one set of stairs - he brought it up, and it fit PERFECTLY into the space. That’s precision carpentry! When some of the redwood started weeping sap, Greig said he had to source his lumber from 3 different lumber yards in the middle of the pandemic, and obviously, some were not properly aged. He came by, removed the weeping boards, bought new replacement redwood, and aged them himself before reinstalling them. It’s truly a work of art. Then when I bought a new refrigerator and discovered it was 5/8” too deep to fit through the doorway between the DR into the kitchen, Greig showed up, had his person carefully remove 100 year old rip cut oak paneling, trim the old growth redwood studs from the original construction of my 1914 home, shorten the above upright slotted cabinet where I store sheet pans, etc. to accommodate a taller fridge, then put it all back together so you can’t even tell what was done. Finally, I pleaded with him to PLEASE take on my powder room renovation, and he agreed to squeeze me in. He’s reliable, honest, knowledgeable, and affable (helpful when dealing with city inspectors and clients). He finishes his jobs on time and on budget. He’s the best contractor I've ever worked with - top quality, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. His people are top-notch. -Christina
